For information about the real, modern person or other persona’s she plays, check out the About Me page. This is the persona I will endeavor to stay rooted in for this blog going forward.

Katla was born in Ireland in 900 CE and taken/traded to what is now Northern Germany as a slave in 913. Adapting quickly to the new culture, repeated brief marriages and widowhood left her a wealthy Danish matriarch by the time of her death in 959. Having converted whole-heartedly to Germanic Heathenry in her early teens, she refused to then convert to Christianity. She left behind a significant material legacy, though, for medical reasons, not a biological one. Instead, she adopted one daughter and dedicated herself to travel and politics through the end of her life.
